Our Purpose
Connecting people with a life of purpose and hope in Christ
We believe that when we are connected with Christ we are equipped and empowered to live with purpose and hope. We are not just a church service, but a community where you will find a place to belong – connected with each other as we journey through life endeavouring to grow in our understanding of God and live out his purpose for each one of us.
Our Name - Horizon
The name of Horizon Church was drawn from Job 26:10.
Light symbolises God's love and power coming into our lives revealing to us a future full of hope, peace and joy as part of the family of God.
He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
Our Values
Belonging
We value a place where everyone is welcome as they are, where kids can be kids, where people make mistakes and are quickly forgiven and where we can be real with one another.
Community
We seek authentic ways to connect with and be a part of the community. By doing this as individuals and as a church, we can be the hands and feet of Christ and show others the hope that is found in him.
Opportunity
We value everyone having the opportunity to live out their purpose and engage in their giftings – but we will never pressure, guilt or force someone to be involved.
Hope
Our conversations at Horizon resound with hope! We have encountered the God of hope and we can’t help but share this and speak life in our interactions.
Generosity
We value generosity and putting others’ needs first. We give generously of our time, encouragement and resources to create a lasting legacy in our community.
Growth
We value the steadiness of commitment that transcends passing excitement and recognises that with a little bit of faith and a willingness to take a step, God will grow us.
Our Beliefs
We believe that the Bible is God's Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives.
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the 'new birth' we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues.
We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.
We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively.
We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
